Welcome to Student Transportation Services of Central Ontario (or STSCO for short). We have recently made some changes to the homepage to make it more user friendly and to provide the most pertinent transportation information to families, students, and the public.
January 16, 2018 – Bus Driver Labour Negotiations Update for Students and Families On Bus Routes Operated by First Student’s Bowmanville Branch
This note provides information on ongoing contract negotiations between First Student and Unifor, the union representing the company’s Bowmanville school bus drivers. The company remains optimistic that a settlement will be reached. If a settlement is not reached, however, job action could occur 72 hours (three days) after notice is given by the union that school bus drivers may take action that could affect student busing. As of 9:00 a.m. on today’s date, no notice has been given and busing continues as normal.
We encourage families of students who attend KPR or PVNC schools in Clarington and Northumberland and who ride on First Student buses to consider having alternative plans for getting their children to school in case of a possible strike, check the stsco.ca website often, and stay tuned to local news media, for any possible updates. We will provide further updates as information becomes available in the coming days and weeks. In the meantime, busing will continue to follow the usual schedule, unless we become aware of a change. Schools and Student Transportation Services of Central Ontario (STSCO) will let families know of any possible changes through www.stsco.ca, School Board websites and social media accounts, including Twitter and Facebook.
